MOTHER MARY - HOW TO LIVE IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT" by Fr. Augustine Vallooran V.C.

“We are preparing ourselves for a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. Mother Mary will teach us how to prepare ourselves for the fresh anointing of the Spirit of God because it was Mother Mary who got the Promise of God – “The Holy Spirit will come upon you.” (cf. Luke 1:35) Mother Mary was the first human being to be anointed with the Holy Spirit.”
“Before the birth of Jesus, the context of the Annunciation is very important to understand. Mother Mary was given the message that she was to conceive and bear a son. We are told she did not understand anything. There was a lot of fear, anxiety and disturbance in the heart of Mary – “How can this be?” (Luke1:34) There are such moments even in our own lives. Things happen to us and we do not understand why, we do not know how to overcome such problems in our lives - whether in our married life, family life or in our professional life. Mother Mary will teach us how to face such problems with total dependence on God – turning to the Lord.”
Fr. Augustine explains with deep spiritual clarity the THREE things the Holy Spirit did to Mary during the Annunciation and how Jesus later explained to the Apostles the THREE Names (and functions) of the Holy Spirit.
“It is good for us to understand that we are not left alone in this world. Rather, we are being filled and led by the Holy Spirit at every moment. Nothing happens to us by chance. None of us is born by chance. Our burdens and everything happening to us is according to a greater design hidden in the Mind of God (cf Jeremiah 29:11).”
“Mother Mary’s pregnancy could not be understood by the intellect. It can only be understood in the wider context of God’s Plan of Salvation of humankind. Mother Mary did not understand the Message when it was given to her but she did not rebel. She said to God, 'Here I am, your handmaid.' (Luke 1:38) To be a servant of the Lord, in humility, I must open my heart for what God has to tell me – to wait and pray.- - for a revelation.”
